Bio

Dr. Taylor Kain studied medicine before finishing postgraduate residency training in internal medicine and fellowship in critical care all through the University of Toronto. He then completed an infectious disease fellowship at New York University. Dr. Kain has now started a PhD through the Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS) in Toronto while attending as a critical care physician at William Osler Health Systems and Lakeridge Health. His research looks at the gut-lung axis and the link between the gastrointestinal microbiome and acute lung injury. He is the co-lead of the translational biology working group for the PRACTICAL platform and has worked to found the PRACTICAL biobank to store biological specimens from patients with acute hypoxemic respiratory failure for future research.
