Bio

Dr. Daniel Talmor is chair of the Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care, and Pain Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) and the Edward Lowenstein Professor of Anaesthesia at Harvard Medical School.  

Dr. Talmor’s research interests are centered on the early identification and treatment of critically ill patients, with a particular focus on the optimal delivery of mechanical ventilation.  Dr. Talmor has published over 250 peer reviewed papers as well as multiple chapters, editorials and abstracts. He has lectured extensively around the world

Dr. Talmor has served as principal investigator on multiple funded clinical trials. Currently he is principle investigator in the NHLBI funded PREVENT-VILI trial, a 1100 patient trial designed to test personalized mechanical ventilation in patients with ARDS. In addition, he has served as the principal investigator on a large grant from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation aimed at redesigning the way care is delivered in the Intensive Care Unit using principles of systems engineering.
