Dr. Bryan Coburn

Dr. Bryan Coburn completed his medical degree and PhD (in Microbiology and Immunology) at the University of British Columbia then residencies in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases and a research fellowship in Cell and Systems Biology at the University of Toronto. His laboratory research interest is the study of microbiomes in human diseases as a modifier of disease risk, severity and response to therapy. He runs a clinical/translational research program in human microbiome research with an emphasis on interventional trials targeting the composition and function of the human microbiome, and the development of microbiome-informed biomarkers for diagnosis, prognosis and treatment selection in infectious and inflammatory diseases.  He attends on the General Infectious Diseases service at the University Health Network and Mount Sinai Hospitals and has an outpatient practice in infectious diseases, tuberculosis and HIV.
